Proficiency Studies

Large-scale quality assurance takes place by means of so-called proficiency studies or laboratory-evaluation research. Proficiency studies compare the research results from several national and international laboratories, so individual laboratories can see where they stand. Such studies are an effective way to measure the analytical proficiency of laboratories, as they provide an indication of the extent to which any one lab’s results compare with those of others.

CHEK has earned formal accreditation from the Dutch Accreditation Council for nine of its chemical proficiency studies (registration code R012). Our scope is available on their website at www.rva.nl.

Process
In proficiency studies, homogeneous test materials are distributed to a number of laboratories for analysis of one or more compounds. An announcement is sent by e-mail to the participants as the materials are shipped. Analysis results must be returned within four weeks by using digital answer forms. Participating laboratories then receive the final report by e-mail (in the form of a PDF-file) up to six weeks later. Our procedures comply with the requirements of International Standard ISO 17043:2010 (General requirements for proficiency testing). See also our protocol ‘CHEK Protocol for Proficiency Testing’.

Annual programme
Please view the annual programme 2012 of CHEK for our proficiency studies.

Costs
In 2012 the fee for taking part in the CHEK-scheme is set at €175 per study, not including shipping costs. If participation in 5 or more studies are requested on one registration form, the fee is set at €145 per study, not including shipping costs. See shipment for the shipping costs. Invoices are enclosed in the packages. Payment must be made by cheque or bank transfer and does not take place by means of the internet.

Registration
If you wish to join the programme, please fill in the registration form before 16 December 2011 or at least two months before shipping of samples. A confirmation will be sent once you have registered. By sending the registration form participants agree with the terms and conditions.
