Additional declarations
Additional declarations on phytosanitary certificates for exports to the European Union as required by annex IVAI of the EC Plant Health Directive (2000/29/EC).
Requirements for plant products imported into the EU
The phytosanitary requirements for import of plant products into The Netherlands are based on the EU plant Health Directive 2000/29/EC. In case of alternative options for meeting import requirements as mentioned in annex IV A I of 2000/29/EC (article 13a paragraph 4(b)), details of the option used must appear in the Additional Declaration box of the Phytosanitary Certificate accompanying the consignment. Reference must be made to the relevant position in annex IV A I. An additional declaration is also required in case of emergency measures.
PLEASE NOTE: this is not a change in requirements, the Netherlands are intensifying checks on this requirement that exists since 2005.
Documentary checks of plant products at import in the Netherlands
At the point of entry in the Netherlands, documentary check is part of the import inspection, with focus on the required Additonal Declarations on the Phytosanitary Certificate. In case of incorrect additional declarations, i.e. the lack of reference to the relevant position, the consignment will be refused entry.
Import season
Seasonal import from specific origins are taken into account. Based on import statistics the following origins are considered:
Cut flowers (all products)
Origin: Brasil, China, Egypt, Israel, Brasil, China, Egypt, Israel
Fruits & vegetables (all products)
Origin: Australia, Bolivia, Egypt, India, Israel, Pakistan
Because of seasonal import halting a shipment in case the AD is not correct will commence only from april onwards.
